Trend for selecting more adventurous timbers, finishes and new applications for reclaimed woods are being thought up by interior designers and architects in a bid to use ‘wall-cladding’ differently.

#Reclaimed-timbers are in contrast to those old disposable materials; these woods were built to last for a very long time. In the olden day’s wood was the primary source to build any structures be in land and water. Thus made it the most durable natural material and is irreplaceable after harvested. Every wood have different stories to tell, of what it holds and what it was made for in the years before it was used for wood-flooring.

Nowadays some good woods are left to rot in old places without knowing the true value of the woods they are leaving behind and usually uncared for. It is very important that we should know how to care for our woods before it’s too late.

Reclaimed ltd. is committed to give these old forgotten timbers a second life for the next generation to come. We specializes in #wood-floor-restoration and promoting environmental awareness in #wood-recycling. Reclaimed ltd. is dedicated to salvage all wood products and make it available to the market for a longer period of time. Everybody knows how scarce our wood supply these days and we made sure that we have the facility for good storage of wood products. With previous history in warehouses, factories, barns, and cotton mills, stories and pictures obtained from #reclaiming-antique wood provides a fascinating look into our country’s history. Recycling and repurposing #antique-woods for modern day products ensures this historical component of our country’s early growth will live on.

At present, market shows a spiraling demand for #reclaimed-timber, most of which was shipped to the UK from colonies and commonwealth lands before sustainable sources were available. Much of today’s demand is for #high-grade-flooring, #wall-cladding and #joinery-material where #antique-wood holds the illusive quality of character. .

Woods are lovely pieces of art it is shaped and grooved into something made of devotion and full of aspirations to create a masterpiece. It is the sturdiest material and is very hard to replace. Today in our three warehouses we hold one of the largest and most diverse ranges of #reclaimed-timbers in the country, combined with the ability to mill to order we have become one of the UK’s leading suppliers.

Reclaimed ltd. sees it all and now we are making the sturdy #reclaimed-woods available to the market and especially for those who appreciates how wonderful Mother Nature created the timbers of life.

wood floors

Reclaimed strip flooring is being specified by designers for many commercial applications including wall and ceiling cladding at the moment; but we feel you can achieve some very effective results in the domestic interior setting too!

Strip flooring is salvaged from school halls, sports centres, shops and factories. A variety of woods include maple, iroko, jarrah, and mahogany, keruing, oak and other exotic hardwoods which give a wide choice of natural colours.

The attraction is the range of woods that can be blended over one surface and the seeminlyg erratic pattern created from the partial marks made from broken court marks across the walls surface.

Here’s some inspiration for the Interior Designers out there. We found it while surfing today, a fabulous example of some furniture and stair rails designed and created to reuse some reclaimed flooring planks. We’re loving the unplanned grainy rawness it gives a urban industrial chic edge to this room setting.  It’s from the New York Times.

Centuries ago buildings were erected using first generation slow grown timber stock that was decimated without being replanted. Government legislation has ever increasing controls on demolition waste disposal and landfill, timber recyclers such as us become increasingly important in finding a continued use for such quality finite resources.

PARQUET – The word derives from the Old French parchet

A little bit of a history lesson. PARQUET – The word derives from the Old French parchet (the diminutive of parc), literally meaning “a small enclosed space“. Large diagonal squares known as parquet de Versailles were introduced in 1684 as parquet de menuiserie (“woodwork parquet”) to replace the marble flooring that required constant washing, which tended to rot the joists beneath the floors. Such parquets en lozange were noted by the Swedish architect Daniel Cronström at Versailles and at the Grand Trianon in 1693.

Installations with reclaimed timbers, demonstrates that timber used years ago for one project can be reused, generations later in different ways. For instance, French oak railway carriage sides, once processed provide a character filled floor with an unbeatable patina of age and life scars. Sun bleached American barn boarding with over 100 years of weathering is a popular choice for textured wall cladding with its unique silver confirmation of age.

Upcycling, recycling and reclaiming previously used building materials by Interior designers and creative homeowners has been going on for some time.  A current trend that gives a new lease of life to both the material and the setting into which it is inserted is wall cladding, this sits well with sustainable living values. Timber clad walls can be used in numerous ways in the modern rustic interior, bringing with it an aesthetic of nature indoors.  Cladding a wall, or 2 walls or the ceiling or a cupboard front can drastically alter the way a room looks and feels.

Reclaimed wood new uses

Cleaver is a fresh and exciting new Restaurant concept in leafy Cobham Surrey. Reclaimed are loving the way their cladding materials were used on the exterior facade, complete with painted lines off the factory floor still in situ’,  looks mint against the gold lettering of ‘Cleaver’. This new restaurant took their ‘eco’ credentials further   by installing our reclaimed floor boards throughout the restaurants.

We think this find is worth shouting about for you flooring connoisseurs, new in stock here at Reclaimed we have some real London heritage for sale. Beautiful teak flooring from the Walthamstow Stadium famed for its greyhound racing that sadly closed in 2008 after 73 years of entertaining the public. The distinctive pink, green and red neon signage is now a missing landmark in London, all very sad. But it is a chance to bag a slice of London’s social history. To find out more about this rare opportunity contact Paul or Andy on 020 8529 8504.

Little or no timber arrives at our sawmill that is immediately viable for resale. Each batch is De-nailed, any splits removed and moisture content calculated.

The wood is then held as a stock item in one of our warehouses until selected to meet an individual customer enquiry. We then routinely plane to a thickness and size to width. Today’s customers commonly choose to retain the original top surface in order to retain the patina of age.

Bulk timbers such as French oak, thick roof boards and joists are re sawn to provide boards of a usable thickness and provide the alternative of old or new surfaces.

Our strength lies in the depth and variety of stock that we hold, which rarely fails to provide a product to suits customers’ needs.

Different ways to use our beautiful reclaimed timbers.

We’re working on some interesting projects in-house at the moment coming up with more different ways to use our beautiful reclaimed timbers. Can’t say any more now, but watch this space.

Reclaimed have just supplied a lounge-bar at Eden House in Central London with strip chevron parquet flooring with a very rustic unworked finish this is in stark contrast to all the other materials selected by the interior designers. The rest of the materials  palette included concrete, steel and glass. The vintage parquet against the m odern materials gives a sense vibrancy to the spaced as a whole.

We’re preparing the materials for more restaurants in London, a new Turkish restaurant, a bistro. The wall cladding is just flying off the shelves at the moment we’re not surprised as it great product. J
